What the CV builder checks

• ATS readability — measured against the text a parser actually extracts from your exported PDF, not a guess about how it looks. A CV a machine cannot read is one no person ever sees.
• Match to the job — one job description at a time, showing the evidence it found in your CV and the requirements it could not support. Gaps are named, not scored away.

Questions

Does it write my CV for me?

No. It rewrites what you have already written and suggests skills your own text evidences. Every draft is checked against your CV first, and any draft that introduces an employer, a qualification or a number you never wrote is discarded before you see it. A CV that claims things you cannot back up fails at the interview instead of the screen, which is worse.

Will an ATS be able to read it?

That is measured rather than promised. Your CV is exported to PDF, read back the way a parser reads it, and you are shown the text that came out — including anything that did not survive, like a phone number lost inside a header. Each template also carries its own parse score so you know what a design costs you before you pick it.

Can I use the CV I already have?

Yes. Import a PDF or DOCX and it is read into the editor, then you review what was read rather than retyping it. Import is deliberately cautious: where a line is ambiguous — a school name that is really a study mode, two skills that arrived as one entry — it is flagged for you to confirm instead of being guessed at.

Does it work for jobs outside tech?

Yes. The checks read the evidence in your CV rather than assuming a career shape, so a nurse, a teacher, a warehouse supervisor and a software engineer are each judged on what their own record shows. Templates carry a photo where a market expects one and drop it where it gets you rejected.

Who can see my CV?

Nobody, unless you create a share link. Your CV is private by default, and a share link is read-only, can be switched off at any time, and tells you when it was opened. Viewers can leave notes on a line without creating an account.

Where is my data held?

Your account and CVs are stored securely by CVHarbor. AI features use OpenAI. Direct contact details and your CV-header name are removed before AI processing, including during CV import. OpenAI does not train its models on API data. You can delete your account and CVs from Account & privacy; encrypted recovery backups may retain deleted records for up to 30 days.
